Fascinating Holidays Crete
If you are considering taking a vacation this year, then look no further than the island of Crete. The island is greatest of all Greek islands and is drenched in sun for seven months of the year.
There are lots of reasons why you should opt for a tour of Crete, the islands of landscapes golden beaches and the rich history and architecture on offer in each city or town you visit.
When we visited Crete on holiday we stayed in a small charming town called Gouves on the east side of Crete. The village was only 20 minutes drive from the main airport of Heraklion and directions to the village were very easy, as it is located just off the main road of Crete.
Being lovers of sun and intrepid explorers who first went to the island of Spinalonga close Elounda and Agios Nikolaos and had a nice day on a boat to explore the island of Spinalonga which was the last leper colony in Europe and after jumping from tour an entry of fine sand and a beach barbecue.
Our next adventure took us to the Cretan palace of Knossos and Heraklion surrounding hills. Palace Knossos is surrounded by vast stretches of olive and citrus trees and the place is incredible. We took a guided tour of the palace and found out much about the Minoan people.
The rest of the week was spent exploring the local beaches and cities including the capital, Heraklion, where we managed to spend a small fortune on gifts, products local and Raki and of course the duty free perfumes and after shave.
Our recommendation would be to visit Crete in the months of June through August as These are the hottest times and has no chance of rain or bad weather. Overall we loved out Crete holiday and will be back next year to explore the west of the island.
