Any information Istron near Agios Nikolas in Crete?
I recently inherited a new home on the coast of Istron (according to my research is 10 km from Agios Nikolas and in front of the house is in Elounda Farms Istron Acidalia) I've never been in Greece, Crete or indeed anywhere near them. Any thing someone could tell me about these areas will be very useful (shops, nightlife, weather, really anything that I am very confused)
Greece is a truly beautiful place with all the islands are different. My partner and I just returned from Istron where we are thinking of buying some land and build a small house. It is about 10 km from Aghios Nikolaos, a lively resort with many bars, taverns and nightclubs. Istron is quieter, with several beaches, each with a 'drinks provide Kantina' and snacks. These are 1 & 1 / 4 hours drive from Heraklion arport now served directly by Easyjet throughout the summer. There many English pubs and bars and the use of Greek playstation free for children (if any). There are small local supermarkets in town but if you need to do large purchases there is a large LIDL on the outskirts of Aghios. Istron is also a bus route to Sitia and Ierapetra Aghios and in the opposite direction. It can be noisy in the main road, but there are plans to build a ring round the back of the village of Kalo Chorio. The climate is fantastic, we had temperatures in the high 30s every day for air conitioning is a must! We were in Crete for three weeks and it rained once. Everyone there is so friendly and helpful and is frequented by expatriates to use your pool for the price of a drink at the bar. There are hotels there too, the hotel Istron a class A-Bay on the edge the village and Elpida, which is a two stars, but more central. I hope you make a visit to this area and see for yourself.
