Where to stay in Crete, Greece?
We are three ladies in our late 20s trying to decide where to stay and what to do while in Crete. Currently we are flying into Heraklion and stay there overnight. We would like a combination of nightlife (sophisticated, not the scene of 18 years the party), the Greek culture, great shopping and food, excellent beaches and a wonderful atmosphere. What city we make our home base? I heard a lot about Chania and Rethymnon. Malia sounds a little young. Can anyone help? Also you have to see when visiting the island? What are the Best places to visit? Just stay 3 nights longer, then take the ferry to Santorini.
Chania is the best option available to him ur looking for! Beautiful city, many visitors very vividly, best night life in Crete (if ur looking for "nightlife tourism, of course), a large market where u can find anything u want and as far as goes the culture, the city itself is a monument, as it still retains its Venetian port (the old city as we call it). In the southern department of Chania beaches are great, ru but definitely should go to Elafonisi (a 3 hours drive from Chania, but it's worth, Gramvoussa, Falassarna …. At night the charming town of Chania is at port old and there r many good restaurants …. Enjoy!
