How much Greece in 2010?
I am planning to book an agreement later this month with my girlfriend – Greece is the destination we have decided so far, but I have heard that it is very expensive there. I can appreciate most places are not a bargain today, but I like to think I could get more return to where I live now (United Kingdom). Can anyone give me a tour of the kind of prices they would be seeing here – obviously housing is included with the i book the offer, especially their food / drinks and all kinds of excursions, etc. I would like to know. PS Some ideas on places of Greece would be useful (we would like historical things to do during the day but not too far from civilization:) – I know concrete is one of the cheapest places but I'm not a fan of airplanes and I would not be flying over 3-3 January / 2 hours. Hello, Greece in 2010 is still as expensive as it was in 2009! You could take a coffee 3-5 euros (oh, yes, you actually buy the view from your chair and not a teaspoon …), have lunch or dinner a restaurant with 12 to 20 euros per person, unless you have gyros / souvlaki and it will cost 05.03 euros. Fortunately there are plenty of options and you can find food cheap (you can go to a bakery and find incredible cakes, for example, for 1.5 euros, cheap and delicious!). The accommodation depends on the time you come, and place. The earlier you arrive, the cheaper rooms. If you go to Mykonos or Santorini will cost twice as much in Crete … The rooms could have 80-120 euros per night if you are near the city. Booked in Naxos and Sifnos islands with 40 euros per night (not a hotel), I think is a good price. Even more can be found cheap rooms 25-30 euros but make sure that they have no age or place is not noisy there. If you are from United Kingdom I'm sure you can book with less money, even the "all inclusive" in a hotel (I heard that on the islands of Kos and Rhodes who book with 15-20 euros per day for all !!!). Crete is amazing and has it all, historic sites, mountains, beaches, nightlife, good food and prices … If you can not fly for many hours, you can go to Athens and go to Crete by boat from there, but it will cost you some time. the island of Corfu was also a good option, is even closer by air. Other islands that could be considered near Lefkada Corfu, Kefalonia, Zante (Zakynthos). Other recommended sites is an island in the Cyclades, Naxos, for example, has some archaeological sites and stunning beaches.
